The East Side is one of Milwaukee’s most iconic neighborhoods. It’s home to some of the city’s oldest buildings and mixes lifelong Milwaukee residents with UW-Milwaukee students and young professionals. Historically, the area is home to the Water Tower District, where the Beer Barons built Milwaukee’s first mansions in the 19th century. Many of the homes in this area are both historical and extravagant, in striking architectural styles such as German Renaissance Revival, Queen Anne, and Italianate. If you’re a history buff looking for a gorgeous house, this is the neighborhood for you!
Residents living on the East Side love living in the city with a lively atmosphere including plenty of shopping, cafes, restaurants, and unique experiences to get together with old and new friends. There’s plenty of housing options: Historic homes, newer condo buildings, and new construction along the Milwaukee river.
When people think East Side, they think of Downer Avenue, North Avenue or Brady Street. Local landmarks like the Oriental Theatre and Boswell Book Company are just blocks away from rising stars like Red Light Ramen. It’s a vibrant area with a diverse offering of activities: axe-throwing bars, authentic indian food, trendy shopping, and historical sites are all within walking distance of one another. Visit BelAir Cantina for one of the margaritas voted number one by OnMilwaukee or stop by Ma Fischer’s for bottomless coffee and killer milkshakes.
Even though there’s so much to do inside, the East Side still has plenty to do outdoors. It’s home to Milwaukee’s favorite park: Lake Park, just north of historic Wahl Avenue. It offers everything from an 18-hole golf course to ice skating, and the North Point Lighthouse.
Milwaukee's Eastside has a range of homes from older houses to newly built condos and apartments. Prices range from $200K-$1M+.
